What a night for Moroccan football. The Atlas Cubs stunned six-time champions Argentina with a confident 2-0 victory to lift their first ever FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy and in doing so, became the first Arab nation to win the tournament.
The star of the show, Yassir Zabiri, the 19-year-old forward was electric, scoring both goals in the first half, one a beautifully curled free-kick in the 12th minute, and the other a clinical finish after a slick counterattack in the 29th. His performance earned him Man of the Match honors and a place in Moroccan football folklore.
Argentina, who had breezed through the tournament unbeaten, were left shell-shocked. Despite dominating possession, they couldn’t break down Morocco’s rock-solid defense, led by the composed Ismael Baouf and goalkeeper Ibrahim Gomis, who barely put a glove wrong all night
