African giant, Al Ahly of Egypt drew goalless with Lionel Messi Inter Miami in the opening game of the ongoing FIFA World Club Cup. Even if the scoreboard didn’t reflect it the high-energy clash between Egypt’s Al Ahly and MLS powerhouse Inter Miami as both sides delivered a great performance.

From the opening half, Al Ahly came out swinging. They pressed hard and dominated the tempo. Their early aggression was rewarded with a penalty opportunity but Inter Miami’s Óscar Ustari had other plans. The veteran goalkeeper denied the spot kick with a brilliant save and went on to rack up eight total saves, earning him a well-deserved Man of the Match award.

The Egyptian side looked sharper and more cohesive in the first 45 minutes. Miami, meanwhile, struggled to find their rhythm, and Lionel Messi playing in his first Club World Cup for Inter Miami was largely quiet.

In the 2nd group A match, FC Porto and Brazilian giant, Palmeiras played out a drab goalless draw.
