Canelo Alvarez has been beaten by Terence Crawford and took home all the four major shinny belts in the division: the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO.
This historic fight held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, drew the creme de la creme in boxing. Bud Crawford came into the fight as the underdog against Saul Canelo Alvarez who was the bookies favorites to defend his title. A fight that netted him a huge $150 Million pay day while his opponent, Crawford earned $50 million with the Saudi backed promotion which is UFC President, Dana White first fight in his foray into boxing promotion.
Canelo started with his usual ferocious jabs, body shots and landed couple of upper cuts but could not easily break through Crawford defense. As the fight progresses, Crawford grew, his counter punches neutralized Canelo, Crawford gained in confidence late in the rounds, landing several combinations, maintaining his balance and control of the ring, Crawford agility helped him to evade several Canelo punches, his great defense was impregnable and his boxing IQ outclassed Canelo brute force.
After 12 rounds, Terence Bud Crawford defeated Canelo Alvarez in a unanimous decision to become the new Ring Magazine and Undisputed Super Middle Weight Champion of the world. With this historic win over Canelo, Bud Crawford cemented his legacy to become the first male boxer in the four-belt era to become undisputed champion in 4 different weight divisions.
