Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are on the verge of retaining their League cup crown, but Seattle Sounders stand in their way in an epic final slated for Sunday, August 31st at the Lumen Field.
This will be the 3rd straight year that the league finals will be an all-MLS affair. Both Seattle Sounders and Inter Miami played in the last FIFA Club World Cup.
Inter Miami defeated state rivals, Orlando City FC 3-1 in a tense match that Lionel Messi scored a brace to take his tally to a historic 205 in all competitions in his career so far.
Seattle Sounders defeated LA Galaxy 2-0, goals from Pedro de la Vega and Osaze De Rosario powered the Sounders to an epic final on home turf but they will make do without their Cameroonian defender, Nouhou who got a red card in the 83rd minute after a strong challenge on LA Galaxy’s forward, Jesus Ferriera, the referee after VAR consultation, gave Nouhou the marching order, video replay showed that the Cameroonian made contact with the ball first but the final play was adjudged to be too strong hence the red card.
The finals will be on Sunday, August 31st at the Lumen Field.
